Interview with Pope Urban II
Q:What is your signinfigance?
A: I called for the crusades in 1095. The soilders were bored from not fighting, and that's all they were trained to do. I thought we might as well do something useful.
Q: How long did the Crusades last?
A: There was 9 of them and they lasted for 200 years.
Q: What was the greatest impact of the Crusades?
A: You don't know? They brought Europe out of the dark ages! That was huge! It was amazing, Europe has been in these dark ages while everyone else was in their finest, finally letting Europe join the rest of the world, well it changed people's lives.
Q: How exactly did they bring Europe out of the Dark Ages? Normally a war seems like something people in the dark ages wouldn't begin...
A: That's why it was so big, no one else would have thought of it! The crusades brought the rebirth of trade, they brought an opening of knowledge back. It forced people to see the West that use to be ours, which inspired people to create. People began to show strong interests in the arts, great feats were made in Science, math, Architecture... Roads and protective walls were rebuilt.
Q: What did all of this greatness lead too?
A: This was the beginning of the Renisance!
