Rome Sacked/ Falls to Barbarians

Interview with King Clovis
Q: How did Rome fall?
A: The Visigoths. They were strong, and they were a cunning barbarian group. Led by Alaric, who died in 410, short after capturing Rome.

Q: How did they manage to capture Rome?
A: They starved them out! It took nearly 2 years, people were eating people, the whole thing was horrible! And then the Visigoths invaded and took Rome. Yet, without any food, Rome didn't seem interesting anymore. After Alaric's death, the Visigoths leave. But now other barbarian groups are coming in and trying to take Rome.

Q: What Happened to Rome?
A: It fell to the Dark ages.

Q: Where do you come into this?
A: I was King Clovis, King of the Franks! In 496 I too tried to take Rome, and converted to Christianity as Constantine had a while back. it worked, they accepted me because of it. After uniting France, I died. Sad story...

Q: Why was you converting to Christianity such a big deal?
A: Well after the dark ages began, there was no more Rom unifying the people. There was one thing and one thing only that held the people together. Can you guess what it is?

Q: I have no idea, what was it?
A: The Church! It was the single thread that held people together and gave them hope for the future!
